Centralised Weavers Database (BTC-CWDB)
BTC-CWDB is a digital demographic registry and geo-tagging framework, designed and engineered by C-DAC Kolkata for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Assam. It maps, verifies, and empowers handloom weavers, allied craft artisans, and rural artisan households with transparent access to welfare, credit, and modernization.
Project Objective
The study aims to furnish precise, authentic demographic data on handloom weavers and allied artisans across the Bodoland Territorial Council, Assam. By recording age, gender, ethnicity, educational background, loom specifications, and exact GPS geographic coordinates, the platform enables deep insight into artisan livelihoods and provides an evidence base for state and national development policies.
Socio-Economic Benefits
Centralised enumeration drives equitable government planning and targeted interventions for handloom cluster expansion. The registry directly facilitates institutional credit, Mudra microfinance, subsidized raw materials, and state welfare schemes. In addition, it maps technological requirements, enabling tailored C-DAC Jacquard CAD training, natural dyeing workshops, and digital marketplace linkages to boost artisan productivity and household income.
Key Capabilities & Architecture
Engineering modern digital tools to safeguard traditional heritage and deliver transparent artisan governance.
Digital Registration & GPS Geo-Tagging
Door-to-door field enumeration captures household data, records exact GPS coordinates, and generates a tamper-proof unique artisan ID verified through Voter ID (EPIC) and mobile OTP.
Demographic & Socio-Economic Profiling
Provides real-time analytical reporting on artisan age distribution, gender parity, ethnic communities, literacy rates, and economic standing to guide targeted policy decisions.
Institutional Finance & Welfare Access
Connects validated handloom artisans with institutional credit, Mudra loans, PM-VIKAS benefits, subsidized yarn distribution, and health/life insurance schemes directly.
Skill Profiling & Market Linkages
Identifies cluster-level training needs, enabling tailored C-DAC CAD Jacquard design courses, natural dye workshops, quality control certifications, and digital store onboarding.
Database Impact & Field Reach
Real-time geospatial enumeration and demographic census coverage active across the Bodoland Territorial Council region.
Registration & Verification Workflow
A transparent 3-step field methodology ensuring every artisan receives verified government recognition.
Door-to-Door Enumeration
Certified field survey teams visit weaver households directly across Bodoland. They capture household composition, craft tradition, loom type, raw material sources, and monthly production volume.
Geo-Tagging & Identity Check
The field mobile application records exact GPS latitude/longitude coordinates. Identity is cross-referenced using the artisan's EPIC (Voter ID) or Pehchan Card and authenticated via real-time mobile OTP.
Unique CWDB ID Issuance
A secure unique registration ID is generated and linked to the artisan's permanent digital dossier, unlocking direct eligibility for training programs, bank loans, and government welfare subsidies.
Access Verified Records, Analytics & Registration
Search official demographic data across BTC districts, explore interactive geo-spatial visualizations, or review step-by-step registration guidelines.
